The Wayfarer's Prayer
Lord show me the well at which I should drink
and
Let me not thirst at others.
Give me only the thoughts that I should think.
Let me not try to mindread my brothers.
Give me only the pain that my heart must feel
And always the joy that will truly heal.
For this wayward heart
Heads down devious lanes
Flirting with the base, the untrue.
But it grows and it blesses with the sorrows and pains it
feels
With my eyes fixed
intently on you.
Yes, Lord, show me the way.
Put my feet on the path.
Put a song in my heart as I trod.
Give me courage and confidence
Just for this day.
You
choose me, so use me, Oh God.
